I’m trying to find some route ideas to drive from Joburg to Transkei in December. The problem is, most of Google’s first 10 results are trying to sell me a holiday or car rental that i don’t want to buy.

Is the competition for higher search rankings, for commercial gain, not skewing the relevancy of the results for people like me who aren’t interested in buying? There’s little incentive for someone to optimise his/her site if its for pure personal interest.
