Are you a Jargonator?

Man, I can’t stand jargon!

Just got a proposal that contained the following paragraph in the covering email:

Focused marketing: This direct access yields focused marketing strategies that tie in synergistically with mainstream advertising campaigns and that enable measurable return on investment.

I’m not sure if “synergistically” is even a word, but if you can’t explain your offering to me in words you learned at school between grades 1 and 7, then you’re going to struggle to gain any credibility from me.

I believe there’s a perception that using fancy words and slapping “return on investment” onto the end of the sentence makes you sound more intelligent. I think it makes you sound like a salesman who doesn’t really understand the benefits of using your product.
